Ragan Trail 4W316

Ragan Trail (4W316)

Distance: 2.35 miles
Approx Running time: 1 hour
Difficulty: More Difficult
Season: Closed October 15th through June 15th

The Ragan Trail starts off the FS-3521 road and runs west to join the 4W315 Nealy Creek Trail. Although it is fairly close to the 4W315 trail in geographic location it is a vastly different trail. The Ragan trail twists and winds through old clear cuts, small stands of forest and large meadows.  There is little if any off-camber sections or hill climbs to this trail but the tight turns between the stumps on the eastern side will have the longer wheelbase rigs working a little bit harder. The trail should however be suitable for larger 4x4s. The Ragan trail joins the Nealy Creek trail approximately .6 miles east of the Table Mountain Road and makes a good loop run in conjunction with the Nealy Creek trail.

Because the Ragan Trail is within the Table Mountain Management Area, it is closed to motorized use (except snowmobiles) from october 15th through June 15th every year.

Getting There:

Approximately 4 miles west of Ellensburg on Hwy 97 turn north on Green Canyon Road. Follow Green Canyon Road north for 4.9 miles where it will ‘T’ into Robinson RD. Turn left here and procede about .5 miles and around a right hand corner. Robinson Rd becomes Green Canyon Rd again and continues north another 2.5 miles. Green Canyon Road turns left here. Continue straight ahead, the road becomes Reecer Creek Rd at this point. Reecer Creek Rd goes through many switchbacks as it climbs onto table mountain. After about 8.6 miles and on top of table mountain, the pavement ends and the road becomes Table Mountain Rd. Not far (maybe a couple of blocks) after the pavement ends the trailhead for the Most Difficult rated 4W319 (Crystal Ridge Trail) is on the left, FS3521 is to the right and will take you to the east end of both the Nealy and Ragan Trails. Continuing for 1.5 miles on Table Mountain Road will bring you to the trail head for 4W315 Nealy Creek Trail on the right.
