The hills surrounding Liberty Washington abound with 4x4 trails, beautiful views and old mines. All of the trails we tried were intermediate to most difficult and not for the un-initiated. Many of the trails were a good mix of off-camber side hill, steep and loose hill climbs/descents and tight twisties in amongst the trees and through old clear cuts that would make the longer wheelbase vehicles cry for mercy. I would also advise that due to low hanging blow downs (trees) and because of the off-camber, one shouldn't be running anything bigger than a 35" tire. The lower the better at Liberty. Keep the center of gravity low. On our most recent trip (August 2006) there were several large trees that had fallen across the 319 trail at just above roof height. To try and cut these out of the way because you are too tall would be really dangerous unless you are a professional logger and know how to handle these kind of things. We did notice that at least for the 319 trail, someone had come through and pruned back all of the brushy areas so as to keep the pin striping to a minimum. |
