Louie Way Trail #608
Louie Way Trail (#608)
Distance: Approx. 5.0
Running Time: Approx. 1 to 2 hours one way
Difficulty: Most Difficult
Pass Needed: NO
The trail marker on the north end of the Louie Way trail near Rimrock lake states that it is an "easy" trail. In 2004 when we first ran this trail we would have called it "more difficult" This year (2010) due to extensive damage caused by irresponsible off-roaders the trail has been damaged to the point of being "most difficult" and impassible without a good winch. Leave your hard top at home and consider removing your doors to reduce the possibility of damage. If you aren't equipped with at least 33" tires stay away. As the intersecting trails in the area are not marked we continue to take the wrong turn part way into this trail and end up exiting via the 612 trail.
Because we have never been able to run this trail to it's end we do not have complete GPS data or an accurate map of it's existing location.
Getting There:
East of Rimrock lake turn south on Tieton Road. Continue on Tieton Rd. for 2.75 miles and turn left onto forest service Rd. 1202. Road Ys immediately. Stay left onto FS 571, continue on FS 571 for .3 mile, trail head will be on the right.
